There is a good game buried in here somewhere
There is a good game buried in here somewhere. Universe Sandbox promises a lot with its Cozy, Sim setup, but the loop wore thin quickly. It advertises Create & destroy on an unimaginable scale with a realistic physics-based; what you get is a thinner version of that. The pacing sags in the middle third and never fully recovers. There is more content here than the price suggests. Wait for a deep sale.

I went in with modest expectations and came out genuinely impressed. The Cozy, Sim mix is what kept me playing; Universe Sandbox knows what it wants to be. The pitch — Create & destroy on an unimaginable scale with a realistic physics-based — is delivered without too much filler. Pacing is generous, checkpoints are fair, and the whole thing respects your time. There is more content here than the price suggests. Worth it, especially on sale.

It took an hour to click, and then I could not put it down. Universe Sandbox leans hard into Cozy, Sim, and that is exactly the part that worked for me. On paper it is Create & destroy on an unimaginable scale with a realistic physics-based, and for once the game mostly lives up to that. Short sessions work fine here; I rarely lost progress to a bad checkpoint. It runs well on a mid-range rig, though the later areas get busy. I will be back for another run.
