The online servers are bad, the PvP is bad, and the story is admittedly average at best
The online servers are bad, the PvP is bad, and the story is admittedly average at best. But that's not what Xenoverse is about. Xenoverse is about one thing: power fantasy. The entire game is an excuse to make your own Dragon Ball OC and then make them the most broken character imaginable. And it does that quite well. Playing the game really does make you feel like a super strong character fighting to save the universe right with the cast as an equal. The variety of moves, costumes and styles really enforces what this game is. Its a power fantasy. Don't expect balanced gameplay or great story and stay away from online if you aren't playing with friends. Play this game for the joy of watching your OC earthling one shot a god with your finisher.

No longer works on Steam Deck because of kernel level anti-cheat being added to a 10 year old game
No longer works on Steam Deck because of kernel level anti-cheat being added to a 10 year old game. EDIT: Looks like singleplayer content is still accessible if you shut off your Deck's wifi connection before launching the game, and then turning it back on after launch. Letting the negative review stand until the devs patch out the check before you even access online content. EDIT 2: The launch command below will bypass the checker entirely and allow you to boot into the game without having to swap to airplane mode(but online play will still be inaccessible): bash -c 'exec "${@/START.exe/bin\/DBXV2.exe}"' -- %command%

The game itself is fun, though perhaps showing its age a bit
The game itself is fun, though perhaps showing its age a bit. However, I'm primarily making this review to say Rest In Peace, Akira Toriyama. Thank you for everything you did, as your work played a large role in my formative years and beyond.
