Hades is the rare roguelike where I'm happy to lose — the story keeps moving every single run.

Hades is the roguelike that made failing fun — Zagreus dies beautifully, the House keeps the story moving, and every escape attempt advances it.
A friend recommended it and I owe them one. Hades wears its Roguelike, Action, Story influences on its sleeve, and it mostly works. On paper it is The roguelike where dying is how the story gets told., and for once the game mostly lives up to that. Short sessions work fine here; I rarely lost progress to a bad checkpoint. Checkpoints are frequent enough that a bad run never feels punishing. I will be back for another run.
It took an hour to click, and then I could not put it down. Hades wears its Roguelike, Action, Story influences on its sleeve, and it mostly works. The pitch — The roguelike where dying is how the story gets told. — is delivered without too much filler. The difficulty curve is gentle at first and then asks more of you, which felt right. The soundtrack does a lot of heavy lifting in the quieter sections. I will be back for another run.
This one kept creeping back into my thoughts during the workday. Hades wears its Roguelike, Action, Story influences on its sleeve, and it mostly works. On paper it is The roguelike where dying is how the story gets told., and for once the game mostly lives up to that. Pacing is generous, checkpoints are fair, and the whole thing respects your time. The UI takes a little getting used to, but everything is where you expect it. Easy recommend at full price.
