I actually like this better than Minecraft for reasons I don't fully understand yet

I actually like this better than Minecraft for reasons I don't fully understand yet. It seems perhaps more streamlined or less confusing. I'm playing this with my two kids, aged 7 and 9 and it is complex enough to keep me, a 40ish year old man entertained, but easy enough for small children to grasp. Unfortunately there is no split screen type co-op, but that is understandable imo because otherwise you'd be tied to the same area or the screen would be too small. The upside is this motivated me to smash together a couple of old PCs into a new frankenstein gamish. It is an interesting evolution, from iPad kids, to playing on PC with Xbox controllers, and now eventually somewhat with the mouse. At least they're seeing it is way easier to navigate and aim using mouse rather than the controllers. Anyways, we're currently 4 hours in and having a blast. There is enough decorating and building for my daughter, enough exploring and fishing for my skittish son, and enough logistics, organization, combat, and complexity to keep my adult gaming sensibilities fulfilled. That's a pretty tall order if you think about it, and it makes sense why this game has such great reviews. Another benefit to the devs (and Steam for that matter) to this more cheap co-op game is now each kid has their own Steam account, own PC, and own copies of Core Keeper. Nice.

As a 42 year old married man, I honestly wish I could have experienced this game with friends

As a 42 year old married man, I honestly wish I could have experienced this game with friends. No one that I grew up with (or currently interact with) still plays games the way that I do. Regardless, I enjoyed my time playing Corekeeper. I logged the majority of my hours during the initial release. I've never played a game that felt as effortlessly open world as this one. Building your home(s), exploring new biomes, and even laying out your own railroad network consistently felt fresh and imaginative. As I dive back in after a number of massive updates, Corekeeper has retained it's original appeal, yet added quality of life updates along with content that has inevitably sucked me back into the persistent grind towards perfection. Corekeeper will absolutely end up as a top 5 gaming experience in my ever-expanding repertoire. I'm forever grateful to Pugstorm for the level of happiness they've provided, and I impatiently await the inevitable release of Kyora! FINAL RATING: 10/10 (first and only game I've given a perfect score!)

Core Keeper just launched out of Early Access!

Core Keeper just launched out of Early Access! I picked this game up awhile ago while it was in EA and I have to say it honestly surprised me at how much I liked the game. Survival crafting isn't really a genre that's high on my list, so there's really not that many I can think off the top of my head I'm a fan of. What really makes Core Keeper special to me, is most of the time when I play these types of games I think to myself "eh, I'm not really having fun, I probably should get some people to play with", that's not the case here. I've put roughly 60 hours of game time into Core Keeper all playing solo and I've honestly enjoyed every single minute I've spent in this game. So if you're a solo player and feel like maybe this game isn't for you and you're not considering getting it because of that, you may want to reconsider. Congrats to the dev team on 1.0, I look forward to seeing what the future of Core Keeper holds! This is an extremely easy recommendation for me.
