Blockland is a non-linear sandbox game with no set goals, giving players the freedom to design and construct elaborate structures. Styled as a tiny minifigure, players build inside of the virtual world using bricks reminiscent of toy blocks. These structures can be built in either a single-player or multiplayer (either online or through a local area network) setting.

Picked this up on a whim and ended up playing it every evening for two weeks. Blockland leans hard into Action, Sim, Multiplayer, and that is exactly the part that worked for me. It helps that the premise (Blockland is a non-linear sandbox game with no set goals, giving players the) actually shows up in the moment-to-moment play. Short sessions work fine here; I rarely lost progress to a bad checkpoint. It runs well on a mid-range rig, though the later areas get busy. Easy recommend at full price.

I bounced off it twice before finally giving up. The Action, Sim, Multiplayer side of Blockland is fine on paper, but the execution felt thin after the first few hours. It advertises Blockland is a non-linear sandbox game with no set goals, giving players the; what you get is a thinner version of that. Too many systems are introduced and then abandoned. The soundtrack does a lot of heavy lifting in the quieter sections. Not for everyone, and not for me.
