I went in with modest expectations and came out genuinely impressed. Zero Caliber VR wears its Action, Cozy, Sim influences on its sleeve, and it mostly works. The pitch — Zero Caliber is the ultimate VR FPS: single player/Co-op campaign, PvP and mod — is delivered without too much filler. Short sessions work fine here; I rarely lost progress to a bad checkpoint. Checkpoints are frequent enough that a bad run never feels punishing. If you are on the fence, give it a shot.
This one kept creeping back into my thoughts during the workday. The Action, Cozy, Sim mix is what kept me playing; Zero Caliber VR knows what it wants to be. It helps that the premise (Zero Caliber is the ultimate VR FPS: single player/Co-op campaign, PvP and mod) actually shows up in the moment-to-moment play. It never wastes your time with filler encounters. It runs well on a mid-range rig, though the later areas get busy. I will be back for another run.
