Turmoil offers players a visually charming, tongue-in-cheek take on the simulation genre inspired by the 19th century oil rush in North America. Get a taste of the rush and rivalry of the time as you earn your way to become a successful oil entrepreneur. As you make money digging up and selling oil, the town will grow along with you. Lease land at the town auction and search for oil. Build a rig, create an efficient pipe network and bring up the oil to store it in silos. Sell the oil at the best times to maximize profits. Then buy essential upgrades in town to cope with rock, gas and ice. Acquire more town shares than your competitors in a bid to become the new mayor. I bought this thinking, I think this is what I want to play right now
I bought this thinking, I think this is what I want to play right now... please don't be a button masher, please don't be a button masher... And it was what I wanted, and it wasn't a button masher. Which was nice. Management game with the main purpose of becoming Mayor by making as much cash for the least outlay. You do actually have to think a little with this game, judge whether it's worth searching for another oil pocket in the time remaining, or are you content you've got all the oil that's available and would the search be a waste of money. I've not worked out a winning strategy yet, I keep going with the scanner upgrade, which I'm not sure is good, or if I'm just lazy. Not touched many of the upgrades, so there's still replayability in this even after just over 7 hours of play. The picking a plot of land feels a little like a gambling mini game, as each territory becomes used it becomes more obvious where the rich plots were and will be. Value for money, well I'm going to use my tried and trusted Beer to Game ratio, I feel as long as you're getting triple the beer ratio out of a game then you're doing ok. I picked it up for about £4.6 on sale, so about a pint n half, which would take me about 45minutes, so I'm looking for a bit over 2 hours of play. I've had seven and I'm happy I'll still be coming to play more of this so we're in a cost effective amount in my opinion. Do buy this game if; - You just want a relaxed time killer - Are easily convinced you could be an oil baron - Like pipe and horses with carts Don't buy this game if; - You're after cutting edge graphics - an kill fest (The movie there may be blood is not a trailer for this game) - engrossing storyline
