WARNING, FALSE ADVERTISING!

WARNING, FALSE ADVERTISING! AND INGAME MTX! This game is NOT a base-building game! The devs advertise huge castles, massive three story buildings, settlement survival-esque qualities, but the game has a 500 CONSTRUCTION LIMIT. AKA, the game calculates a hidden number based on everything you put into the world, and due to limits of the game, it will not let you construct anything more than an absolute bare-bones build, nothing like what they show in the trailers. You cannot build past this limit. Consequently, you must completely disregard basebuilding as a whole if you want to progress into the late game at all, due to the fact that the game requires you to put down crafting stations, and walls to defend them and your portals from wildlife--doing this alone will make you reach the 500 build cap. My team and I built a wonderful base on the first island, only to realize a few hours in that we could not build anything anymore, and in fact had to tear it all down, removing our work piece by piece, just to continue to progress in the game. What really adds insult to injury is that the game has an ingame MTX store that otherwise wouldn't be much of a problem, but it really makes one scratch their head and wonder what all these MTX dollars are being spent on, considering the game has had a build cap for almost two years now. Just sad and disappointing honestly, for an otherwise really nice game.

There's an abandon button right next to the exit button

There's an abandon button right next to the exit button. If you happen to click that one by mistake it deletes your character and permabans you from the server so you can't even start over. What kind of psychopaths make that a feature?

Well, judging from the Steam description, they really marketed the game poorly

Well, judging from the Steam description, they really marketed the game poorly. It's not an action-survival RPG, but a rogue-lite with open world and RPG elements. The gameplay cycle is to gather, craft better gear, loot bases, etc to defend your base daily from monsters. If you can't keep up that pace or are too far away before the monsters come, your base will be destroyed and its game over. You get permanent improvements for your character after your run. If they marketed this correctly, it would have been considered a pretty good rogue-lite. Instead they called it an action-survival RPG and all the people wanting the next Diablo are upset.
