The Witcher 1 does a great job of capturing different atmospheres throughout each chapter
The Witcher 1 does a great job of capturing different atmospheres throughout each chapter. It goes from gloomy to cozy, with Chapter 4 in particular feeling like a warm hug. The rhythm-based combat was nice for a change. I liked the different fighting styles and how you start off quite weak but become OP as you progress. I also loved the characters, especially Siegfried, Alvin and Raymond. The story had a few surprises that genuinely amazed me, since things weren't always as straightforward as they seemed. The game definitely has its flaws, but considering its age, I'm willing to look past them. It's still a great game, and whether it's your first Witcher experience or not, I think it's bound to be an enjoyable one.

The Witcher: Enhanced Edition: Geralt's Awkward Teenage Years
The Witcher: Enhanced Edition: Geralt's Awkward Teenage Years Regret: 38% (the combat is a rhythm game nobody asked for) This is where it all started, and it shows. The combat is basically clicking in rhythm, the animations are stiff and every NPC seems to share the same five faces. But the story, the atmosphere and the choices are already there. It's a bit like looking at old photos of a friend who became really good-looking later. 35 hours of respect for the ancestors.

It is old and you can feel that
It is old and you can feel that. The combat is rather unsatisfying, I tried to avoid it at any cost. The plot is not bad, but you can see that they improved a lot after this game. It is a weird, junky product of its time. Can't recommend it from the perspective of modern gamer.
