This one kept creeping back into my thoughts during the workday. The RPG, Adventure, Open World mix is what kept me playing; The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim knows what it wants to be. On paper it is The fantasy RPG that refuses to age., and for once the game mostly lives up to that. Pacing is generous, checkpoints are fair, and the whole thing respects your time. The soundtrack does a lot of heavy lifting in the quieter sections. Easy recommend at full price.

This one kept creeping back into my thoughts during the workday. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim leans hard into RPG, Adventure, Open World, and that is exactly the part that worked for me. It helps that the premise (The fantasy RPG that refuses to age.) actually shows up in the moment-to-moment play. It never wastes your time with filler encounters. The soundtrack does a lot of heavy lifting in the quieter sections. I will be back for another run.
