Picked this up on a whim and ended up playing it every evening for two weeks. Soulmask leans hard into Adventure, RPG, Sim, and that is exactly the part that worked for me. It helps that the premise (Don the Ancient Mask. Wield the power of gods. Possess any of your) actually shows up in the moment-to-moment play. Pacing is generous, checkpoints are fair, and the whole thing respects your time. It runs well on a mid-range rig, though the later areas get busy. Worth it, especially on sale.
It took an hour to click, and then I could not put it down. Soulmask wears its Adventure, RPG, Sim influences on its sleeve, and it mostly works. It helps that the premise (Don the Ancient Mask. Wield the power of gods. Possess any of your) actually shows up in the moment-to-moment play. The difficulty curve is gentle at first and then asks more of you, which felt right. The UI takes a little getting used to, but everything is where you expect it. I will be back for another run.
