This one kept creeping back into my thoughts during the workday. The Deckbuilder, Roguelike, Tactics mix is what kept me playing; Slay the Spire knows what it wants to be. It helps that the premise (The deckbuilding roguelike that spawned a genre.) actually shows up in the moment-to-moment play. The difficulty curve is gentle at first and then asks more of you, which felt right. There is more content here than the price suggests. Easy recommend at full price.

I went in with modest expectations and came out genuinely impressed. If Deckbuilder, Roguelike, Tactics is your thing, Slay the Spire delivers it without much filler. It helps that the premise (The deckbuilding roguelike that spawned a genre.) actually shows up in the moment-to-moment play. Pacing is generous, checkpoints are fair, and the whole thing respects your time. Checkpoints are frequent enough that a bad run never feels punishing. If you are on the fence, give it a shot.
