About Rabi-Ribi

Our New Game. . About the Game. . . . . There never quite seem to be enough bunny girls in the world, so here is another for you aficionados out there. This 2D sidescrolling exploration platformer follows the adventure of Erina, whose humdrum life as a regular rabbit is turned upside-down when she finds herself in an unknown world and turned into a human (with rabbit ears)!. Along the way she meets the cheerful pink-haired fairy, Ribbon, who mysteriously chooses to stay by Erina’s side.. These unwitting heroes embark together on their quest to restore Erina’s life to normalcy, but who knows what troubles lurk, waiting for them…. . . . Rabi-Ribi is a 2D exploration platformer that focuses on non-linear gameplay. There will be hints to guide the player along, but they’re never required to follow them, which allows for much greater freedom to—you guessed it—explore.. . Players will play as our protagonist Erina, who focuses on close quarters combat. Ribbon the fairy is the ranged attacker who follows Erina’s lead, indirectly controlled by the player.. . . Erina may be a little rabbit that was turned into a human, but that doesn’t stop her from being capable of some pretty neat

This is a good game

This is a good game. Important: If you are new to action platforming games, this is not a good place to start. At the time of writing - the achievement for beating this game entirely (including post-game) on normal has a lower completion rate globally than Sekiro's defeat all bosses achievement (another game infamous for starting a difficulty controversy on the internet). That's how hard it is simply to beat the game on normal. There are skill-walls in the game also when it comes to platforming. Even if you have all items and are pretty much maxed out in the game and don't have problem in fights, but you can't time a jump into air dash (correctly in a tight 0.2 second window) into a triple wall jump, you simply can't get to the next room. And you need to in order to progress the story. That's how brutal this game this. The bullet hell action is another story. There's very little "aeroplane-style" bullet hell sequences where you dodge like you would a traditional vertical/horizontal scrolling shooter. Most of the game involves navigating bullet hell via platforming. Controlling jump height by length of button press, air dashing, sliding, dropping etc is key. If all of this sounds good, you're going to like this game. Even tougher than the gameplay is the fact that the cutesy art style and suggestive CG makes this a really tough game to be walked in on. It's like being walked in on when playing Dead or Alive. No one will believe you're playing it for the game. But you know better, you person of culture.

Do not be fooled by all the weeb anime visuals, this game is an amazing metroidvania

Do not be fooled by all the weeb anime visuals, this game is an amazing metroidvania. The explorable game world is giant, and is mostly non-linear. There are literally dozens of bosses, many of which can be tackled in any order you want with few exceptions. There is fast travel to minimize some back tracking, a shop where you can buy upgrades, and a ton of hidden secrets and items scattered all over the map. The gameplay handles surprisingly well, and the music is top notch through the entire game. The story is sort of meh, and there's a lot of dialogue that is painful at times to read through. It doesn't detract enough from the game though. Boss battles seem to be at the heart of the game since there are so many. They are bullet hell Touhou style fights with creative and insane barrage patterns. Playing through blind on Hard right out of the gate, I found it to have the perfect level of challenge. It's hard enough that you feel motivated to hunt down hidden power-ups, but fair enough to not discourage you. After all if you get stuck on a boss there's always a few others you can try your luck on. After you beat the main final boss, which is a doozy of a fight that I won't forget soon, the game keeps plowing onwards after the credits roll into overtime with more challenges and extra content for those willing to see how deep the rabbit hole really goes. (See what I did there?) Overall highly recommended for fans of metroidvanias, the game is very lengthy for the price and the replay value is there as well.
