My first experience after the tutorial, I got dropped into the middle of a huge 200+ person battle, ran around like a chicken with it's head cut off and got killed not knowing where I was getting shot from. Decided to respawn as a medic and stuck with large groups of friendlies, using my necromancer powers to bring them back from the dead. A few minutes later we repelled the invaders and charged towards the next base. It was at this moment- while zerging towards the next base with the other infantry guys, dozens of tanks and armor around us, with our air forces buzzing overhead, that I stopped just to take in this breath taking spectacle and thought to myself "Damn, this is epic". And then I was roadkilled by a friendly tank. Don't just stop in the middle of the road folks.
Even though it took them this long to get DX11, it sure as hell is a big boost in performance for me. This is admittedly a hard game to get into, and it's surely not for everybody. But, there is nothing quite like this game on the market. For that reason alone, I would recommend at least giving this game a few hours to try it. A few quick newbie tips: If you try to lone wolf it when starting out, you are going to get curb-stomped. Playing a support role is still a decent way to earn XP, but don't forget that your guns do damage too, especially if you're the combat medic. You will earn a ton of certification points in your first 10 levels, DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT, spend those points on weapons, your starting weapons are fine. Headshots. They are the quickest way to kill anything, the Heavy Assault's barrier does not protect their heads. It is a bad idea to try to take on a MAX by yourself, if you see one, fall back and try to get help, most classes have have some sort of counter that you can pick up later, most commonly C4. There are people who will be willing to teach you the ropes or answer questions. Don't be afraid to ask! Don't forget that the starting weapons are the "jack of all trades" for it's respective weapon class, other weapons allow you to specialize. Common Pool weapons (NS/NSX) bought with premium currency will be permanently available on all current and future characters, regardless of faction. Finally, create a character of every faction and get a feel on how their weapons work. Stick with the faction you like the most.
best game ive ever played! ...Planetside 2 helped me heal after i returned home from the service. I have PTSD and i was advised to try games similar to my experiences to help build a tolerance. i jumped around through several... from the fast pace of unreal tournament to the incredible attention to detail of Arma... but it want until Steam suggested this one did i find my home. Planetside 2 made me sweat... made me rage... made me cheer, laugh, and even cry. i still struggle with the challenges in my mind... but Planetside 2 strangely enough has become my safe space ...bullets whizzing over my head and death at every corner ...salty vets eager to give advice and fresh rookies eager to impress ...there has only ever been one other experience in my life that ever came close, and it wasn't a game. Will discover hidden Skyrim Easter eggs again 10/10 Solid!
