There is a good game buried in here somewhere
There is a good game buried in here somewhere. Fans of Action, Adventure, RPG will recognise the pieces, though PAYDAY 3 never quite assembles them. The idea (PAYDAY 3 is a 1-to-4 player co-op FPS and the ultimate heist fantasy, set in) is there, but the execution never catches up to it. The pacing sags in the middle third and never fully recovers. The UI takes a little getting used to, but everything is where you expect it. Try before you buy.

This one kept creeping back into my thoughts during the workday. If Action, Adventure, RPG is your thing, PAYDAY 3 delivers it without much filler. On paper it is PAYDAY 3 is a 1-to-4 player co-op FPS and the ultimate heist fantasy, set in, and for once the game mostly lives up to that. The difficulty curve is gentle at first and then asks more of you, which felt right. The UI takes a little getting used to, but everything is where you expect it. If you are on the fence, give it a shot.

It took an hour to click, and then I could not put it down. PAYDAY 3 wears its Action, Adventure, RPG influences on its sleeve, and it mostly works. The pitch — PAYDAY 3 is a 1-to-4 player co-op FPS and the ultimate heist fantasy, set in — is delivered without too much filler. The difficulty curve is gentle at first and then asks more of you, which felt right. Performance was solid on my machine, no crashes across a full playthrough. If you are on the fence, give it a shot.
