It took an hour to click, and then I could not put it down. Ori and the Will of the Wisps leans hard into Platformer, Adventure, Story, and that is exactly the part that worked for me. It helps that the premise (The most beautiful platformer ever painted.) actually shows up in the moment-to-moment play. Pacing is generous, checkpoints are fair, and the whole thing respects your time. Checkpoints are frequent enough that a bad run never feels punishing. Worth it, especially on sale.

This one kept creeping back into my thoughts during the workday. Ori and the Will of the Wisps leans hard into Platformer, Adventure, Story, and that is exactly the part that worked for me. It helps that the premise (The most beautiful platformer ever painted.) actually shows up in the moment-to-moment play. Pacing is generous, checkpoints are fair, and the whole thing respects your time. It runs well on a mid-range rig, though the later areas get busy. If you are on the fence, give it a shot.

The pitch — The most beautiful platformer ever painted. — is delivered without too much filler. Short sessions work fine here; I rarely lost progress to a bad checkpoint. It runs well on a mid-range rig, though the later areas get busy. Easy recommend at full price.
