Not a bad game, just not one I can recommend without caveats. Fans of Adventure, Story, Visual Novel will recognise the pieces, though Narcissu 1st & 2nd never quite assembles them. What it promises (This is a story of disease and suffering; of medication and adverse effects; of) is more interesting than what it actually does moment to moment. The pacing sags in the middle third and never fully recovers. The UI takes a little getting used to, but everything is where you expect it. Try before you buy.

I went in with modest expectations and came out genuinely impressed. If Adventure, Story, Visual Novel is your thing, Narcissu 1st & 2nd delivers it without much filler. The pitch — This is a story of disease and suffering; of medication and adverse effects; of — is delivered without too much filler. Pacing is generous, checkpoints are fair, and the whole thing respects your time. The UI takes a little getting used to, but everything is where you expect it. Easy recommend at full price.
