Mark of the Ninja is one of the best stealth games you will ever get to play

Mark of the Ninja is one of the best stealth games you will ever get to play. The movement is incredibly smooth and just feels great. But the actual magic is that the game is almost never frustrating. The mechanics are so well-established that you always understand why a guard spotted you and exactly what you can do in a given situation. The level and overall design is just chef's kiss. The game also respects your time. It saves constantly, so if you mess something up, you can just go right back and try again in a few seconds. No replaying huge chunks! The story becomes surprisingly good in the second half and really makes you want to see how it's going to end. On top of the different items at your disposal, there is a variety of costumes you can unlock. Each one provides unique benefits and negatives; some of them can significantly change your approach to the game, which makes it fun to replay in New Game+. My only tiny complaint is with the item balance. You have only a limited number of slots, and some tools are so strong that others end up feeling quite filler-like, so you never even consider using them. Even if you don't normally like stealth, you should try this. You can go loud if you want! It's a true masterpiece of the tactical espionage action genre.

A quiet favourite

I’m personally a huge fan of this game, so I might be a bit biased, but let me share with you, why!, I like Mark of the Ninja so much. Mark of the Ninja is a 2D stealth game, with mixed in puzzle elements to make the levels more interesting. 2D and stealth may sound weird at first, but it works like a charm. The Devs. At Klei found very clever ways to mix these elements together flawlessly. For example, enemies have clearly visible vision cones, there are indicators for footsteps in case an enemy is near and more. Before I played the game, I wasn’t sure if it could work, but thankfully I was proven wrong. Story The story isn’t the most creative, but it ties the levels together nicely, and has a surprising twist. I personally enjoyed it. You take on the role of a nameless ninja, tattooed with a special ink, that gives superhuman powers, for a price… Gameplay Your biggest goal is to stay invisible obviously. You can climb up walls, hide in vents, surprise enemies from above, and below and more. With progressing through the game, you unlock new tools and abilities to upgrade your arsenal. It’s also possible, to play through the levels without killing any enemy if you’re looking for an extra challenge. Graphic/Audio Lovely 2D Art, in up to 4k resolution and a great sound design that, beside accentuate the atmosphere perfectly, is also worked into the stealth elements. Final Thoughts Mark of the Ninja is quite the unique experience. If you enjoy platformers and 2D games, you should give this game a go. If you already played the original, I would still recommend diving in again, since beside the upgraded visions and sound design, you also get a very enjoyable extra mission with this version.
