Manor Lords is a medieval city builder with tactical battles and the most organic-looking villages the genre has produced — from effectively one developer.
It took an hour to click, and then I could not put it down. If City Builder, Strategy, Sim is your thing, Manor Lords delivers it without much filler. The pitch — A one-developer medieval city builder that looks unreal. — is delivered without too much filler. Pacing is generous, checkpoints are fair, and the whole thing respects your time. Performance was solid on my machine, no crashes across a full playthrough. Easy recommend at full price.
It took an hour to click, and then I could not put it down. The City Builder, Strategy, Sim mix is what kept me playing; Manor Lords knows what it wants to be. It helps that the premise (A one-developer medieval city builder that looks unreal.) actually shows up in the moment-to-moment play. Short sessions work fine here; I rarely lost progress to a bad checkpoint. It runs well on a mid-range rig, though the later areas get busy. I will be back for another run.
