Still thinking about it

The game unfortunately does appear abandoned, which is unfortunate because what I'd really like more than anything is the ability to research ahead What I mean is that a lot of features you can implement in your games have tree-like ordering, so ideally you'll research 16-bit sound before you can research 32-bit sound. Joystick leads to mouse leads to controller, etc. As the game stands, when these technologies become available for you to research is entirely determined by the current in-game year, and I understand why in a "campaign" mode this would be ideal, but I really, really wish there was a way to be on the cutting edge. Make it harder, sure. Make the amount of research points scale up in relation to how much earlier than normal that you're researching it so that if you're researching something that's not due out in ten years, you can DO it, but it'll take a lot longer than something that comes out in two years, The lack of this feature feels like it takes away a lot of autonomy for me. These features are a pretty important part of the success of the games you make, so it would make sense to allow more freedom there. Everything else in the game I can live with just fine. Is it perfect? No, but it's a lot more fun than Game Dev Tycoon. It's a little grindy at time, but I typically like grindy. Unfortunately, some of the grindiness comes from the above windows where you're just twiddilng your thumbs waiting for the next feature to unlock three years from now. At the time of writing, I've got 341.5 hours in this game. I still spin it up every couple of months just to play around in. I have all of the achievements. I like this game. I just really wish the developer(s) had opened it for modding so that my issue above could be fixed. Maybe someday.
