Picked this up on a whim and ended up playing it every evening for two weeks
Picked this up on a whim and ended up playing it every evening for two weeks. If Sim, Strategy is your thing, Luck be a Landlord delivers it without much filler. It helps that the premise (Luck be a Landlord is a roguelike deckbuilder about using a slot machine to) actually shows up in the moment-to-moment play. It never wastes your time with filler encounters. The soundtrack does a lot of heavy lifting in the quieter sections. If you are on the fence, give it a shot.

I wanted to love this, but it never quite got its hooks into me
I wanted to love this, but it never quite got its hooks into me. Luck be a Landlord promises a lot with its Sim, Strategy setup, but the loop wore thin quickly. The idea (Luck be a Landlord is a roguelike deckbuilder about using a slot machine to) is there, but the execution never catches up to it. The pacing sags in the middle third and never fully recovers. The soundtrack does a lot of heavy lifting in the quieter sections. Try before you buy.

Not a bad game, just not one I can recommend without caveats
Not a bad game, just not one I can recommend without caveats. The Sim, Strategy side of Luck be a Landlord is fine on paper, but the execution felt thin after the first few hours. What it promises (Luck be a Landlord is a roguelike deckbuilder about using a slot machine to) is more interesting than what it actually does moment to moment. The pacing sags in the middle third and never fully recovers. Performance was solid on my machine, no crashes across a full playthrough. Not for everyone, and not for me.
