About Left 4 Dead

From Valve (the creators of Counter-Strike, Half-Life and more) comes Left 4 Dead, a co-op action horror game for the PC and Xbox 360 that casts up to four players in an epic struggle for survival against swarming zombie hordes and terrifying mutant monsters. Set in the immediate aftermath of the zombie apocalypse, L4D's survival co-op mode lets you blast a path through the infected in four unique “movies,” guiding your survivors across the rooftops of an abandoned metropolis, through rural ghost towns and pitch-black forests in your quest to escape a devastated Ground Zero crawling with infected enemies. Each "movie" is comprised of five large maps, and can be played by one to four human players, with an emphasis on team-based strategy and objectives. New technology dubbed "the AI Director" is used to generate a unique gameplay experience every time you play. The Director tailors the frequency and ferocity of the zombie attacks to your performance, putting you in the middle of a fast-paced, but not overwhelming, Hollywood horror movie. Addictive single player, co-op, and multiplayer action gameplay from the makers of Counter-Strike and Half-Life . Versus Mode lets you compete

No real reason to buy this over L4D2 If i’m being honest

No real reason to buy this over L4D2 If i’m being honest.. L4D2 has all the content this game has + workshop support. It’s not completely the same game however, there are some differences in the maps and the gameplay. But they are minor and unlikely to be noticed by the average player. It’s also pretty much dead thanks to its successful sequel. No one plays this game anymore. It’s still fun to play, I’ll give it that. The atmosphere in this one feels different compared to the second game. I don’t know how to explain it, but this game feels darker and grim. It’s dirt cheap when on sale, so I still recommend getting it. But overall, if you were forced to pick one. Buy the second game.

iconic game with great characters, including francis, my favorite baddie who loves to complain lol

iconic game with great characters, including francis, my favorite baddie who loves to complain lol. i love the fact that you can see your legs on this one, it's definitely more immersive and that's how every first person game should be. infinite shoving is cool but also makes the game a cakewalk. only 3 special infected, 3 guns to choose from, barely any modes to play and a few campaigns, each one with the same color palette and aesthetic, that look unremarkable and boring, excluding no mercy and the sacrifice, my faves. most players have moved to l4d2 so this one is left for... dead.

For a game that came out in 2008 it still looks fantastic

For a game that came out in 2008 it still looks fantastic. The graphics combined with the music and sound effects create an atmosphere unlike any other. You may be excited to slaughter hordes of the undead, but deep down you know that one wrong move might turn it all around. Yeah it might be difficult getting used to the lack of melee weapons after first playing L4D2 but it's manageable. This and its sequel are the best shooter zombie games as well as one of the best co-op games ever made and I will die on this hill.
