Kingdom Come II makes you TRAIN to swing a sword. Rough start, incredible payoff — Warhorse did not compromise.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance II doubles the Bohemian sandbox — historically grounded combat, no magic, and consequences measured in Hangings.
I bounced off it twice before finally giving up. The RPG, Story, Open World side of Kingdom Come: Deliverance II is fine on paper, but the execution felt thin after the first few hours. It advertises Grounded medieval RPG with combat that respects study.; what you get is a thinner version of that. Performance was acceptable, though the loop repeats itself well before the credits. Checkpoints are frequent enough that a bad run never feels punishing. Try before you buy.
A friend recommended it and I owe them one. The RPG, Story, Open World mix is what kept me playing; Kingdom Come: Deliverance II knows what it wants to be. It helps that the premise (Grounded medieval RPG with combat that respects study.) actually shows up in the moment-to-moment play. Pacing is generous, checkpoints are fair, and the whole thing respects your time. Performance was solid on my machine, no crashes across a full playthrough. I will be back for another run.
