Addictive game loop and mechanics (hence my 1110 hours played)
Addictive game loop and mechanics (hence my 1110 hours played). Darkest Dungeon'esque walking side scrolling type combat. Takes a long time to beat on higher difficulty levels. Enjoyed it. Great bang for the buck.

Don't get me wrong, I really, really enjoyed this game
Don't get me wrong, I really, really enjoyed this game. And after 200 hours of grinding, I was on par to finish the game on hardcore. But here's the thing, this game is DRM protected for some stupid China reason, aAnd when I made a back-up, it wrecked my save file. I lost all 200 hours of gameplay, and for a roguelike, such a loss is a pain to build up. It's basically crippling. I might come back to it in the future to try again, but I don't feel anything but severe disappointment. It's 2022, and to still have such a substandard way of saving the main game config that it can entirely break your game's process is draconian. Just disappointing.

One of my best buys this year
WOW! What a hidden gem! I played the demo just to pass the time and, once complete, immediately purchased the full version. This game is a steal at it's current price and it has so many things I love about a game: base management/upgrades, party management, a ridiculous amount of unique classes, loot galore, explorer a massive map, quests, side quests, and even gambling! The game play is SO addicting. It reminds me of the best parts of "Battle Brothers", "Darkest Dungeon", and a sweet base builder I can't think of right now. If that sounds fun to you - then this is an instant buy. The only one thing that I can say bad about this game is the dialogue. Oh my... the dialogue. I'm the kind of guy that searches every nook in a game hoping to find lore. I've read pretty much every piece of lore in "Grim Dawn" and I love knowing the background of that game. This one, however? Oy... these characters just drone on and on and on... and they try to be charming and witty (at least I THINK that is what they are going for) but it's doing the opposite. After the first 15 mins of playing, I decided to just click my mouse as quickly as I can and shield my eyes from the terrible writing. If you are looking for a Shakespearian epic, well, this ain't it... If you are looking for a base building/exploring/recruiting/shooting/looting/post-apocalyptic good time the add this baby to your cart!
