People like to compare this to Stardew Valley

People like to compare this to Stardew Valley. So ok, imagine Stardew Valley, except it's only cooking. Abigail wants you to create Treacle Cake, and refuses to speak to you until you've delivered the said cake. For the cake you need to construct a flour maker, cake pan maker, treacle maker and sugarcane refinery, for which you actually need to complete a crafting quest for Pierre (he wants Crepes Suzette, for which you need a crepe pan maker, egg maker and an ironmongery for the crepe pan maker) in order to get a secret skill for the Treacle topping that's only unlocked after the said quest, but the game won't bother telling you this so you'll end up spending several confused hours wondering why the Treacle Maker(tm) you just agonisingly crafted won't let you craft treacle. Once you finally have the cake for Abigail, she rewards you with a request to cook a lemon meringue pie, for which you first need to chop down 200 trees in order to purchase the secret Lemon Mastery skill that enables you to craft suitable mulch for the lemon tree, but you also need meringue whip from Caroline who will trade it for a bowl of spaghetti bolognese, for which you'll need... And that's basically the gameplay of Graveyard Keeper.

Looking at all the negative reviews you might think this is a bad game

Looking at all the negative reviews you might think this is a bad game. I want to adress some of the issues from my point of view because I think Graveyard Keeper is a great game. The energy system: yes, the energy meter goes down quickly when doing certain tasks. But there´s a huge farming/cooking component involved to balance it. The seeds are cheap and with a couple of dishes in your backpack you can work a long time. It´s grindy: Yes it is. It´s the kind of game where you have to work to see results. Personally I find it super satisfying because you´re constantly unlocking new stuff. The depth and amount of content is really great. It´s overwhelming and I can´t finish any quests: yes no handholding. You get some hints from the quest givers but it´s entirely possible that you´re 3-4 hours away from being able to finish the quest when you get it. Explore and experiment. So if you´re looking for a slightly more difficult Stardew Valley with dark humor give it a try.

Does it have flaws?

Does it have flaws? Yep. Is it grindy? Sure... if you play it that way. I think the majority of negativity this game recieves is from people expecting Stardew Valley Dark Edition. It is not. What it IS, though, is a challenging, multi-faceted, yet cozy and casual game that you can pick up and play whichever way suits you at the time. You can micro-manage your time and be super efficient at the cost of a nerve or two... or you can just take your time and do whatever you feel like doing. The way this game shines to me is that it does not at all feel like it is hurrying me along or pushing me to meet deadlines in-game. I could spend a week just cutting down trees and making burgers, and I would never feel like "Oh man, I better do all of X or get to Y before Z happens... or else I'll have to wait for next year!!" Comfortable. That's why I like this game. Even the music is max comfy.
