There is a good game buried in here somewhere

There is a good game buried in here somewhere. The Action, Adventure, Open World side of Grand Theft Auto V is fine on paper, but the execution felt thin after the first few hours. It advertises Los Santos, three outlaws, and the online mode that never ends.; what you get is a thinner version of that. Too many systems are introduced and then abandoned. The UI takes a little getting used to, but everything is where you expect it. Try before you buy.

It took an hour to click, and then I could not put it down

It took an hour to click, and then I could not put it down. Grand Theft Auto V wears its Action, Adventure, Open World influences on its sleeve, and it mostly works. It helps that the premise (Los Santos, three outlaws, and the online mode that never ends.) actually shows up in the moment-to-moment play. Short sessions work fine here; I rarely lost progress to a bad checkpoint. It runs well on a mid-range rig, though the later areas get busy. Easy recommend at full price.
