I went in with modest expectations and came out genuinely impressed. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth leans hard into RPG, Action, Story, and that is exactly the part that worked for me. The pitch — Midgar is behind them; the planet opens up. — is delivered without too much filler. Short sessions work fine here; I rarely lost progress to a bad checkpoint. It runs well on a mid-range rig, though the later areas get busy. I will be back for another run.

Picked this up on a whim and ended up playing it every evening for two weeks. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth wears its RPG, Action, Story influences on its sleeve, and it mostly works. It helps that the premise (Midgar is behind them; the planet opens up.) actually shows up in the moment-to-moment play. The difficulty curve is gentle at first and then asks more of you, which felt right. There is more content here than the price suggests. Worth it, especially on sale.

I went in with modest expectations and came out genuinely impressed. If RPG, Action, Story is your thing, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth delivers it without much filler. On paper it is Midgar is behind them; the planet opens up., and for once the game mostly lives up to that. Pacing is generous, checkpoints are fair, and the whole thing respects your time. The soundtrack does a lot of heavy lifting in the quieter sections. I will be back for another run.
