It took an hour to click, and then I could not put it down. F1® 2020 leans hard into Racing, Sim, Sports, and that is exactly the part that worked for me. The pitch — F1® 2020 allows you to create your F1® team for the very first time and race — is delivered without too much filler. Short sessions work fine here; I rarely lost progress to a bad checkpoint. The UI takes a little getting used to, but everything is where you expect it. I will be back for another run.

I went in with modest expectations and came out genuinely impressed. If Racing, Sim, Sports is your thing, F1® 2020 delivers it without much filler. On paper it is F1® 2020 allows you to create your F1® team for the very first time and race, and for once the game mostly lives up to that. The difficulty curve is gentle at first and then asks more of you, which felt right. The soundtrack does a lot of heavy lifting in the quieter sections. If you are on the fence, give it a shot.
