Dota 2 is the deepest MOBA ever shipped — a hundred heroes, ten players, and a complexity curve that never really ends.
I bounced off it twice before finally giving up. Dota 2 promises a lot with its Strategy, Multiplayer, Action setup, but the loop wore thin quickly. What it promises (The granddaddy of MOBAs, still the deepest game in the genre.) is more interesting than what it actually does moment to moment. The pacing sags in the middle third and never fully recovers. There is more content here than the price suggests. Wait for a deep sale.
It took an hour to click, and then I could not put it down. If Strategy, Multiplayer, Action is your thing, Dota 2 delivers it without much filler. It helps that the premise (The granddaddy of MOBAs, still the deepest game in the genre.) actually shows up in the moment-to-moment play. It never wastes your time with filler encounters. There is more content here than the price suggests. Worth it, especially on sale.
I bounced off it twice before finally giving up. Fans of Strategy, Multiplayer, Action will recognise the pieces, though Dota 2 never quite assembles them. It advertises The granddaddy of MOBAs, still the deepest game in the genre.; what you get is a thinner version of that. Performance was acceptable, though the loop repeats itself well before the credits. The UI takes a little getting used to, but everything is where you expect it. Try before you buy.
