Vampyr is both amazing and irritating. Yes, the fighting system is very forgettable and the level-design is frustrating, but the world and the NPC are so great you’ll have a good time anyway.
Got about 15% done with the game. I wasn't having the worst of time. Then the game crashed. Ok no big deal right? Just restart and try again. No, my character is now stuck at level 1 and there is no way to level up from there. It turns out this was some kind of anti-cheat thing that sometimes flags legit players? Why? Just why? Not only can you void the game of someone not cheating, but why have anti-cheats in the first place? This is a single player game. If people want to cheat then let them. There is no reason to screw over your customers like this.
I first played this game back when it launched in 2018, barely thought of it again until now when I decided to play a second time. I realize now that, like most people I approached the game wrong the first time and focused in the combat and vampiric habilities which you gain troughout the game. I remember this had a certain comparasion to Dark Souls and that couldn't be further from the truth, this game is all about the story and it's many branches which will lead you to different endings. I appreciated much more this second playthrough as I focused on the story part of the game, which is by far the best, leaving the combat and the more action packed portions of the game into the background. I can honestly say I see myself returning to this depressing world once again in the future for I know there are certain things I missed about the lore. Overall, a great underrated game.
