Played on the harder difficulty
Played on the harder difficulty. A very solid 2D sidescrolling beatemup with a unique cultural presentation (Taiwanese folklore), superb art-style, great music/sound design and voiceover. The story while pretty straightforward overall, it does have a couple really nice twists, and I especially love the narrator's style. Overall The levels are edging on dragging over a bit longer than they should be (IMHO), but the jumping puzzles are good and varied enough to keep it flowing. Combat-wise it feels really good to use the combos, just-dodges and projectile-deflections - the iconic weapon stealing move can be chained together with almost every move you make (and the enemy weapons are really useful at times) thus making this combat experience somewhat different from other great 2D side-beat'mups that came before it. The boss fights are funny, challenging and over the top in a great way. While I am struggling pretty hard with the spear guy and the final boss, but I do see people playing on stream beating them with the same difficulty I played. I guess I am just not that good at it, however it didn't diminish my experience with this game at all. Definitely recommended unless you don't play action/platformer games at all. Even if one is not that good at the boss fights or platforming, the easier difficulty should be tolerant enough for most people to enjoy the game, and there are lots of interesting cultural, visual and audio stuff in it.

Xi Jinping played and could't beat Liao Tianding, now Taiwan is a free country
Xi Jinping played and could't beat Liao Tianding, now Taiwan is a free country. Jokes aside, the dev is so responsive. At one time, my quest progress was corrupted and I emailed the dev. They replied within 1-2 hour and offered to repair my save personally. They did and emailed back the repaired save within an hour and then I was able to perfect my game. 10/10 will buy from this dev again.
