There is a good game buried in here somewhere. Fans of RPG, Sim, Strategy will recognise the pieces, though The Guild 3 never quite assembles them. The idea (The Guild 3 is a fascinating trade and life simulation that takes place during) is there, but the execution never catches up to it. Too many systems are introduced and then abandoned. This one kept creeping back into my thoughts during the workday. If RPG, Sim, Strategy is your thing, The Guild 3 delivers it without much filler. On paper it is The Guild 3 is a fascinating trade and life simulation that takes place during, and for once the game mostly lives up to that. Short sessions work fine here; I rarely lost progress to a bad checkpoint. Checkpoints are frequent enough that a bad run never feels punishing. I will be back for another run.
