You’re not special. You’re not a hero. Thrust into unfortunate circumstances, you find yourself with no other option than to unravel what might be your biggest case yet. There is no choice. We change, but we change nothing. Get to work, detective. Tails Noir is a post-noir narrative adventure. Become raccoon private eye Howard Lotor and explore dystopian Vancouver inhabited by animals as you uncover a deeply personal story of change and transformation. Tails Noir is inspired by film noir, weird sci-fi, post-soviet aesthetics, modern political regimes, the works of Lynch and Kaufman, and existential philosophy of Sartre. It is a linear, cinematic narrative experience that subverts genre and challenges your perception of what it means to be a person. Tails Noir’s gameplay is focused on storytelling and emotional expression, featuring rich and elaborate dialogues inspired by old school CRPGs, as well as exploration of the lush environments. The end of all things is inevitable, but defining which version of Howard Lotor reaches the conclusion is up to you. As Howard, you will: • Make meaningful connections with a diverse cast of characters in pursuit of truth • Shape and express your
Backbone seems to be a potential indie gem for 2021, here's why: + the game is set in a Montreal full of anthropomorphic animals and you'll play as a raccoon detective; + you'll see a gorgeous pixel art style, yet extremely dynamic and detailed; + likable characters, with their flaws and quirks; + dark humor and grim topics such as racism, drug addiction, sexual abuse and more; + the presence of stealth mechanics and logic puzzles; + dialogues with multiple choices and outcomes; + the freedom to choose with which way and approach and face this adventure; What are the demo biggest "flaws"? At the moment the demo is fantastic as it's fun and delivers a lot of immersion, thanks also to the monumental soundtrack, let's just hope that the finished game will be as good and enticing as this demo. Give it a try! It's free, it's fun and needs 45 minutes to be finished.
Played it for 3 hours & boy can I tell you that if you like a dark-themed, grimy world detective story that you can enjoy with a coffee in hand on a cold rainy night. This is it. Can't play it, go listen to its OST, look at its pixel art. That itself is enough. Give it a shot you won't regret it.
Wow, just wow! If this is what the team at EggNut is capable of (with just a one hour prologue), the full game is going to be a magnificent masterpiece! It was a privilege to experience such excellent storytelling, and outstanding art design. The characters are so natural. They pulse with such realism, that you forget that they are pixels and not flesh and blood. If you have not played this Noir Mystery, or listened to its beautiful score, you owe it to yourself to do so...
