What's in the Special Edition?. In-game developer commentary, the WIZ-TAC outfits set, the full soundtrack, and an overly high-concept demo we never released! Full details:Developer commentary throughout the whole game. With this enabled, you'll find tape recorders lying around the levels. Pick one up and listen to us discussing the thinking behind the level you're playing, the character your controlling, this moment in the story, or whatever else is relevant. See the trailer for a look at this in action. There are 52 of these recordings to find, totaling over 3 hours of commentary, spread across the game's 15 hour campaign. They're a mix of designer/writer Tom Francis talking through his own thinking, and interviewing each other member of the team about their work. We get into the reasoning behind design and story decisions, ideas we tried that didn't work out, the hardest challenges we had to solve, and get a little closer to understanding why this game took forever make. And when you're tired of listening to us, you can throw the tape recorder at an enemy to deal 1 knockback. Two notes to be aware of: The commentary does contain spoilers, so it's not intended for a first
Played through the game in normal mode, generally avoiding taking damage whenever I could. One of, if not the most enjoyable 20 bucks I've got on my list of games. The final boss is a mental gymnastic marathon for me compared to the rest of the game, but overall this is well within the region of "you should 100% try the demo and then play this" region. The demo being the first act is really nice, but its also amazing just how many missions there were, especially with the dreams stuff and dream scenarios that unlock as you play the story. There's a lot of side missions, plus the devs want to add custom community made levels as a feature. This was 100% worth my 20 bucks and 21 hours, and I hope it's worth yours. Also, there's a cat :) Also, I was looking at the posts in the community tab and saw multiple posts asking if this game was "woke" or commenting on how it was "woke" and it was just so funny to me. There are silenced wands in this game, and one of the main villains is a traffic warlock, and you hate seeing an LGBTQ+ flag on the cats carrier and one of the characters being lesbian so much that you don't want to play the game? Grow up.
Imagine a game set in a Discworld Universe that evolved to early 21st century. With writing quality, dry wit and poignant moments almost on par with legendary Terry Pratchett's writings. That's basically what TBW is. Mechanically it's a clever puzzle game and not another Xcom on a budget, very engaging but not too boring. But frankly, I've stayed here for the writing and worldbuildng first and foremost. I can only hope that we will see a Discworld game from this team eventually. - Breach? - Breach!
