Picked this up on a whim and ended up playing it every evening for two weeks. SurrounDead leans hard into Action, Adventure, RPG, and that is exactly the part that worked for me. On paper it is SurrounDead is an open world survival game. Taking place in a world ravaged by, and for once the game mostly lives up to that. Pacing is generous, checkpoints are fair, and the whole thing respects your time. The soundtrack does a lot of heavy lifting in the quieter sections. Easy recommend at full price.

I went in with modest expectations and came out genuinely impressed. If Action, Adventure, RPG is your thing, SurrounDead delivers it without much filler. On paper it is SurrounDead is an open world survival game. Taking place in a world ravaged by, and for once the game mostly lives up to that. It never wastes your time with filler encounters. It runs well on a mid-range rig, though the later areas get busy. I will be back for another run.
