The closest to my ideal post-zombie apocalypse game

The closest to my ideal post-zombie apocalypse game. Equal parts action, role-playing, base-building, and exploration. A major wish would be that you could slowly reclaim the entire map, setting up multiple bases or forming alliances with other enclaves.

Easy recommendation

Drifted my car into a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ lake on my very first drive because my NPC companion screamed "SLAM ON IT" for no reason and I panicked. 10/10 would let that NPC get eaten alive again. UPDATE: Playing the highest difficulty for the first time. Just got back from a run, my npc gets out of the car while I'm unloading the trunk and starts shooting something behind me. I assume it's a normal zed and casually turn around as a sprinting plague zombie on all fours leaps onto me like the zenomorph and slams my head into the concrete 6 times. My companion starts beating it off of me with a crowbar, so the execution move it's pulling on me keeps getting interrupted so it ends up bashing my head into the parking lot for two whole minutes while I'm screaming and begging as if it's happening in real life. By the time it lets go (it's still alive), I have 13 seconds until i turn to plague and drop like a brick in front of the infirmary while it pounces my companion and rips his head open like a kinder egg. I love this game.

DO NOT BUY FOR MULTIPLAYER

DO NOT BUY FOR MULTIPLAYER My friends and I got this game to have something we could play together, but now we mostly play it by ourselves. HERE'S WHY: The "Tethering" mechanic completely f*cks up the fun of multiplayer. You can only move 450m from the host before you get teleported back to them. In an Open World Game, this already stifles enjoyment a lot. That alone would be fine if you had something to do while you wait, but you don't. The host is the only one who can expand the base and upgrade/use the different facilities. Exploring the map together is still enjoyable, but base management is an important part of this game, so it happens a lot. While the host is busy with that, you can explore maybe 5 locations near you, and once you've done that, you can only stand around. And the loot doesn't respawn or anything, so that way to pass the time only works the very first time you move to a new base. TL;DR: Fun game, multiplayer should be fun, but isn't
