About Shadow Gambit: The Cursed Crew

Shadow Gambit: The Cursed Crew is a real-time stealth strategy game set in a fantastical version of the Caribbean during the Golden Age of Piracy. A place of mystery and wonder, these islands are home to pirates, vagrants, and all manner of strange folk – but the forces of the Inquisition have set their sights on these isles you call home, and will stop at nothing to eradicate your people as they seek a powerful pirate artifact buried in the region. Recruit and lead an undead pirate crew from aboard your ghost ship to outwit your enemy, striking from the shadows with both blade and sorcery to save your people. . . . Take charge of an infamous pirate ship and reunite its cursed crew as you fight back against the Inquisition across the multiple islands that dot the region. With eight undead crew members waiting to be revived, you can choose who to recruit to your cause, and when – there are no wrong choices, but your crew’s composition will determine how you traverse the islands, your unique experience through the narrative campaign, and what abilities you have at your disposal at any given time.. . ***Full disclosure, I made all the gameplay trailers for Shadow Gambit!***

***Full disclosure, I made all the gameplay trailers for Shadow Gambit!*** I LOVE this game! Before I got this job I hadn't played Shadow Tactics or Desperadoes III, but I've always loved stealth games and this really god its hooks into me. How deep? Well, after 400+ hours logged on this game from making the trailers, I dove back into the game to play it "for real" from the beginning. It's been great to see the game all finished and polished up. For me, playing games after working on them is RARE, especially for one I worked on for over a year total. I'm so hooked on the mechanics of queuing up the actions of each crew member and intricately timing my moves to take out the guards one at a time. They're very satisfying to use (also good for getting cool trailer shots, btw) and it's the best when I surprise myself by coming up with new solutions to each situation. I'm by no means an expert, but I feel like making the trailers was like training for my experience of playing the shipped version of the game, haha. I love trying out different combinations of crew members, and some which I initially thought I'd use less I end up loving when I'm forced to use them. I have so little time to play games because of my job, but I can't stop playing this in my downtime. There's still so much more game for me to play, nevermind the badges for each character. I feel like I'm going to do my best to explore every nook and cranny of the game before I'm done. Another joy of playing it in its final version is hearing all the music in context (I always have music off when capturing footage). The music is excellent across the board, and I had great fun collaborating with Filippo on the Release Date trailer's sea shanty (I wrote lyrics and he did everything else) Highly recommended!

A superb game that was released during the not-so-ideal time window between Baldur's Gate 3 and Starfield
