When I was but a wee lad, I had not a care in the world. My biggest concerns were doing my homework, eating my vegetables, and building up the courage to fight Elvarg and earn my Rune Platebody privileges. Life was good. A lot has changed since then. I've gotten a job. I've finished university. I've moved house. But every so often, I like to go back. Back to the time I learned how to bake a cake by burning thousands of crayfish on a stove. Back to the time I deforested the region around the Cooking Guild to buy an Adamant Berzerker Shield 0 on the Grand Exchange. Back to the time I would take potshots at the skeletons near the wilderness' edge; too terrified to ever set foot on their side of the wall. Back to the time when life was a bit simpler.

A few months ago I took a survey along with the rest of the player base. Through this survey, I told this game's devs that I would be willing to pay a little more in membership in exchange for the removal of the egregious micro-transactions that have decimated every aspect of the game since 2012. After the survey ended they immediately increased membership prices by 15-50% (depending on region) and went radio silent about the removal of micro-transactions. I will not play the game again until the other end of the bargain is held up and micro-transactions are removed. I also find that the atmosphere and whimsy of the game has been destroyed by out of place, visually loud, and lore inaccurate premium cosmetics. I'm trying to have a medieval fantasy adventure while a player wearing basically no clothes, rainbow wings, and 2-10 particle trails of flames, hearts, or rainbows Naruto runs (yes actually) past me. This player likely has a pet 4x as large as my character model that can only be obtained by spending real money. There is no way for me to disable cash shop cosmetics, I must view this. The immersion really isn't there anymore. EDIT: due to the recent action limiting and disabling of MTX, I will be playing again during this time. The review will change to recommended if these changes are made permanent.

So I've been around this game sence 2001, I have always loved this game.. This game has a personal story to me. In the year 2002, I was still very low leveled, killing goblins and trying to quest. I was young and dumb.. Finally came the time I needed to buy a rune axe (Hatchet as they call it now). I sold almost all the fish & wood and gear I had. Wasn't much but it was big to me, I begged for gold for 3 days and when I was about to give up. One player came up to me, asked me what I needed the gold for. And I said "I want to cut trees better" He said.. "Hm." Gave me a Rune Pickaxe & Rune Axe and simply said "Maybe one day you'll do the same for someone else, goodluck kid" I looked down at my keyboard and cried cause I hadn't been treated that way before. And its 2021 now and I still have that same pickaxe and hatchet he gave me.. And with his little help, showed me being generous is more rewarding to me than just building power for myself alone. So I created a Motto "Everyone deserves a hand in life, bad or good, rich or poor." :) Runescape is definitely a wonderful place.. Hope you all can find love for this game as I have. Never changes..
