It took an hour to click, and then I could not put it down
It took an hour to click, and then I could not put it down. The RPG mix is what kept me playing; Ruined King: A League of Legends Story™ knows what it wants to be. On paper it is Rise Against Ruin - Unite a party of League of Legends Champions, explore, and for once the game mostly lives up to that. Short sessions work fine here; I rarely lost progress to a bad checkpoint. The UI takes a little getting used to, but everything is where you expect it. Easy recommend at full price.

This one kept creeping back into my thoughts during the workday. Ruined King: A League of Legends Story™ wears its RPG influences on its sleeve, and it mostly works. It helps that the premise (Rise Against Ruin - Unite a party of League of Legends Champions, explore) actually shows up in the moment-to-moment play. It never wastes your time with filler encounters. It runs well on a mid-range rig, though the later areas get busy. Easy recommend at full price.

Not a bad game, just not one I can recommend without caveats. Fans of RPG will recognise the pieces, though Ruined King: A League of Legends Story™ never quite assembles them. What it promises (Rise Against Ruin - Unite a party of League of Legends Champions, explore) is more interesting than what it actually does moment to moment. It asks for a lot of grinding before the interesting parts show up. Performance was solid on my machine, no crashes across a full playthrough. Not for everyone, and not for me.
