Nightmare of Decay is a first-person action horror game set in a nightmarish manor. After going to bed one night you awaken to find yourself trapped in a manor infested with zombies, psychotic cultists, and a horde of other horrors. You must utilize an assortment of different weapons and limited resources in a brutal fight for survival as you try to escape from the nightmare...or die trying. Explore. Navigate and explore an expansive, multi-level manor filled with deadly horrors.Fight. Fight against a variety of different enemy types including shambling zombies and gun toting cultists.Survive. Limited ammo and resources encourage a more hardcore survival experience.

Easy recommendation
The box art and some of the screen shots make this game look like it's some kind of garbage ass asset flip, but I promise you it's a pretty great horror game with excellent value for $!

Still thinking about it
Nightmare of Decay is basically exactly what you want it to be: first person indie Resident Evil, with nods to all sorts of other media including Half-life, Dark Souls, and even Monty Python. It has a good understanding of what makes classic RE fun, and does a good job designing simple but fun puzzles that keep you looping around the levels, choosing which enemies to kill and which enemies to dodge around and what routes you want to use for backtracking. It's a little clunky to move and shoot but... I mean, it's a classic survival horror game. That's how it's gotta be. Otherwise it's surprisingly polished and well-designed, and a fun trip from beginning to end, if you enjoy classic survival horror and all the quirks that come with it. The campaign takes about two hours to complete, and once it's over you unlock several other modes, including a randomizer, a procgen dungeon crawler that is a lot more fun than I expected and features enemies and bosses I didn't see in the main game, and a good old endless survival mode. In terms of both quality and content, I'd say it's well worth the $5 asking price. If you're a survival horror fan and you want a fun charming love letter to RE and all sorts of other stuff, definitely pick up Nightmare of Decay. It's a surprise hidden gem.

One of the best survival horror games on steam
One of the best survival horror games on steam. - Heavy inspiration from classic horror franchises like Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Blood, Cry of Fear, King's Field etc - Fantastic atmosphere / eerie ost - Story was nothing too crazy, was pretty close to what I expected from this game. - Enemy variety is high and all the enemies (besides the couple with guns) feel fair - I played on hard mode and the difficulty was perfect. Similar to RE3 Remake Hardcore or Silent Hill 2 on Hard - Post game unlockables that you would only dream of. SPOILER || Randomizer, RNG Dungeon Escape & Horde Mode + more - SO many easter eggs from classic horror games Support this game because good survival horror games are rare these days. SHOW STEAM WE NEED MORE
