Has it issues with RNG, card bloat, and the price is a touch steep, but I enjoy it regardless. The different hero decks do bring a decent amount of variability of mechanics.
I understand this is a niche game... what i don't understand is people complaining about RNG in a roguelike deckbuilder. Do people not understand what those two genres are built on? Even the darlings of the hybrid genre (STS and MTrain) are RNG dependent. Granted less so than MM, but here the runs are so short if you get a bad one it's not like you're married to it. Normally don't review many games, but seeing all the negative reception to a game i'm really enjoying made me feel the need to add a little in the other direction. FYI: check out the reviews in your language only. Because while the game was once as low as 29% recommended and is now sitting at around 40%... when you limit the reviews to 'English Only' it's actually 90% recommended. Seems to be a Chinese review bomb going on over their dissatisfaction with the pricing in China.
I don't really know if the developers of this game really are that invested in the balance of this game. At time of writing, I only have 8 hours roughly in game time, but you don't really need more than that to realize how inconsistent this game truly is. A lot of people bring up the RNG of the game and rightly so. The problem isn't that it's a "deck building" game so much as there's a LOT of Perks and Items that are just dead weight. It's almost impossible to have any coherent "build" outside of getting lucky. That in and of itself is also not inherently a negative. However, with the way the game is balanced, most "average" builds just will not win you a run. In fact, in many cases a more "optimized" build where you do get decent synergy will also not be enough to win you a run. This game does not test your ability to formulate a plan. It does not test your ability to adapt and make the best of a bad situation. This game does not test your strategic depth. This game simply tests how many runs you are willing to attempt before you give up all together.
