Kirby Air Riders resurrects the GameCube cult racer with Masahiro Sakurai directing — copy abilities on air ride machines, city trial included.
This one kept creeping back into my thoughts during the workday. The Racing, Arcade, Multiplayer mix is what kept me playing; Kirby Air Riders knows what it wants to be. On paper it is The cult racer returns, Sakurai at the wheel., and for once the game mostly lives up to that. Short sessions work fine here; I rarely lost progress to a bad checkpoint. Performance was solid on my machine, no crashes across a full playthrough. Worth it, especially on sale.
A friend recommended it and I owe them one. Kirby Air Riders leans hard into Racing, Arcade, Multiplayer, and that is exactly the part that worked for me. It helps that the premise (The cult racer returns, Sakurai at the wheel.) actually shows up in the moment-to-moment play. Short sessions work fine here; I rarely lost progress to a bad checkpoint. Performance was solid on my machine, no crashes across a full playthrough. Easy recommend at full price.
Picked this up on a whim and ended up playing it every evening for two weeks. Kirby Air Riders leans hard into Racing, Arcade, Multiplayer, and that is exactly the part that worked for me. On paper it is The cult racer returns, Sakurai at the wheel., and for once the game mostly lives up to that. It never wastes your time with filler encounters. Performance was solid on my machine, no crashes across a full playthrough. If you are on the fence, give it a shot.
