A heartwrenching masterpiece many years in the making
A heartwrenching masterpiece many years in the making. Been too long since I last saw a solo project with such heart and skill hammered into one harmonious whole. The exceptional quality of the game's spritework is immediately drilled into the player and never lets up. Absolutely nailed the delicate metroidvania balance between puzzles, combat, and exploring beautiful environments. I'm not out of tool puns yet but screw it, back to playing.

Easy recommendation
A metroidvania game that is absolutely lovingly made and polished to shine like a diamond, has a great plot and everything just works. Pros: - Very modern pixel art - Vivid animation - Music fits the game really well - The mechanics are tight and controls are extremely responsive - About 10 hours for first-playthrough, more for a completionist and lots of replayability (NG+ etc) - Speedrunners are thought of, and IGT finishing time is shown at the end Cons: - ....I actually can't think of any. Really. Absolutely a blast and a shining diamond, a classic from the get-go, well worth its price! (20€) 5/5!

Wow, that was a ride
Wow, that was a ride. The dialog felt a bit strange at times, but the world and story are fascinating. Things get weird. It's also surprisingly brutal and dark. I'm not entirely sure I understood everything, the game certainly juggles a lot of elements and is quite happy to not spell everything out. Still, really interesting stuff. If you're looking to play a good Metroidvania though, stop. It's not a good Metroidvania, I'd argue it shouldn't even have that tag. There's not much to explore and the "upgrade" system in the game might as well not exist, it barely changes anything. It is however a very nice story-driven, linear action/puzzle platformer with a heavy focus on boss fights. Sometimes I found these to communicate what you're expected to do badly, but everall they're all very good and certainly the highlight alongside the story. Definitely worth checking out!
