Hello Neighbor is a stealth horror game about sneaking into your neighbor's house to figure out what horrible secrets he's hiding in the basement. You play against an advanced AI that learns from your every move. Really enjoying climbing through that backyard window? Expect a bear trap there. Sneaking through the front door? There'll be cameras there soon. Trying to escape? The Neighbor will find a shortcut and catch you. Suspenseful horror gameplay that focuses on sneaking around your neighbor's house . Constantly evolving experience where the Neighbor's AI counters your moves, and learns from what you do . Sandbox-style gameplay with plenty of environmental interaction and physics. .
This one kept creeping back into my thoughts during the workday. Hello Neighbor Alpha 4 wears its Adventure, Strategy influences on its sleeve, and it mostly works. On paper it is Alpha 4 of Hello Neighbor was the final alpha during the stealth hit's, and for once the game mostly lives up to that. Pacing is generous, checkpoints are fair, and the whole thing respects your time. Checkpoints are frequent enough that a bad run never feels punishing. Easy recommend at full price.
I bounced off it twice before finally giving up. Fans of Adventure, Strategy will recognise the pieces, though Hello Neighbor Alpha 4 never quite assembles them. It advertises Alpha 4 of Hello Neighbor was the final alpha during the stealth hit's; what you get is a thinner version of that. The pacing sags in the middle third and never fully recovers. The UI takes a little getting used to, but everything is where you expect it. Try before you buy.
It took an hour to click, and then I could not put it down. The Adventure, Strategy mix is what kept me playing; Hello Neighbor Alpha 4 knows what it wants to be. On paper it is Alpha 4 of Hello Neighbor was the final alpha during the stealth hit's, and for once the game mostly lives up to that. The difficulty curve is gentle at first and then asks more of you, which felt right. Performance was solid on my machine, no crashes across a full playthrough. I will be back for another run.
