The world was once a bright and beautiful place, filled with light and wonder. But one day, an evil force swept across the land, stealing away the world's light and plunging it into darkness. As a result, chaos and destruction spread across the world, and many feared that the darkness would never end.. . In this action roguelike, survive hordes of monsters on every level with automatic weapon attacks. Dodge and collect loot to improve your chances in the next round. It's all about strategy, reflexes, and smart movement. . . Collecting weapons and accessories and strategically organizing them in your inventory is crucial to your survival. Careful management of your inventory can make the difference between victory and defeat. As you progress through the game, you will amass an arsenal of powerful weapons and accessories, making you an unstoppable force to be reckoned with..
Alright, beat the last difficulty and I feel that's sufficient to write this. I'll start by saying GoW is a really cool concept - the Tetris-y inventory management system really satisfies a certain part of my brain, and the gameplay feels smoother and more interesting than most of the other Vampire Survivors clones I've seen. If this was an early access title, I'd recommend it wholeheartedly to support the devs. But it's not an early access title. This is being put forward as a full release. A full release that has: * Two bosses that you fight over and over. * Two elite enemy varieties that you fight over and over. * One level that just grows/shrinks and occasionally has a piece of terrain in the middle * Barely a handful of normal enemies, most of which just slowly walk towards you * A metric ton of typos/grammar errors The replay value is minimal to nonexistent, 100% of the game is beatable in a very short amount of time, and there's no incentive to continue. There are definitive items you can take to make any build trivial, removing any real build variety (malevolent observer, bloody teeth) and many weapons are lackluster. If the game had more content, more variety, or at least a reason to keep playing, I'd almost be OK with them releasing this product as "finished". But as it sits, it feels like they did the bare minimum with everything but the character/item variety. It's like someone did the top-down zombie Unity tutorial, and mixed it up just enough to justify making money off it.
Bought this while waiting for another game. Now I think I’ll wait on the other game while I play this. For a new dad, this is a great game. Short levels, lots of time to pause and think things through between floors, or change a diaper. Runs like butter on the Deck. Loving it. Can’t wait to unlock more characters and weapons.
God of Weapons' mix of Vampire Survivors combat gameplay and Backpack Hero's inventory management system creates a fun and unique gameplay loop, that is sadly completely overshaded by an extremely odd choice of camera angle and inaccurate 3D hitboxes, ruining the most important core gameplay aspect of any bullet-hell type game.
