It took an hour to click, and then I could not put it down

It took an hour to click, and then I could not put it down. Eternal Card Game leans hard into Cozy, MMO, Strategy, and that is exactly the part that worked for me. It helps that the premise (Six-guns and sorcery collide in Eternal, the new strategy card game of) actually shows up in the moment-to-moment play. Short sessions work fine here; I rarely lost progress to a bad checkpoint. Checkpoints are frequent enough that a bad run never feels punishing. Easy recommend at full price.

I wanted to love this, but it never quite got its hooks into me

I wanted to love this, but it never quite got its hooks into me. The Cozy, MMO, Strategy side of Eternal Card Game is fine on paper, but the execution felt thin after the first few hours. The idea (Six-guns and sorcery collide in Eternal, the new strategy card game of) is there, but the execution never catches up to it. The pacing sags in the middle third and never fully recovers. The UI takes a little getting used to, but everything is where you expect it. Not for everyone, and not for me.
