ELEX is a handcrafted action role-playing experience from the award-winning creators of the Gothic series, set in a brand new post-apocalyptic Science Fantasy universe that puts players into a huge seamless game world full of original characters, mutated creatures, deep moral choices and powerful action. In ELEX, you join the war over a powerful resource that gives people great magic-like powers, but turns them into indifferent cold creatures. You decide if emotions and humaneness or cold synthetic logic will rule the world of Magalan. Features: Completely seamless Open World experience without borders and loading zones for the ultimate exploration experience . Vertical Exploration: Use the jetpack to reach any place in the game world . Simulated game world where everything reacts to the players actions and provides for an authentic atmosphere . Highly interconnected quest system that support true player choices . Tactical and challenging combat system for close and ranged combat . Universe set in a post apocalyptic science fantasy universe that combines the most interesting aspects of all genres. .
Very underrated game due to a few reasons... - "The combat/movement feels clunky/unpolished!" Your movement has momentum in this game & your character will not instantly change direction. Combat uses set animations instead of adaptive ones like other similar games have(The Witcher 3 & Assassin's Creed). This can make attacks look & feel a bit awkward until you adjust your gameplay to it. - "The voice acting is terrible!" This is true sometimes. However, I find most of these complaints are directed at the main character, who is actually supposed to be mostly emotionless. - "Starting out is too hard! I can't kill anything!" This game is designed around old school RPGs. The world does not conform to your level & will eat you alive if you aren't careful. Even starting zones can have very difficult enemies to watch out for. You might not be able to complete every quest the moment you get it! If these main 3 things don't sound like your cup of tea, you will not enjoy this game. If you are still interested having these things in mind I highly recommend giving this game a try! I personally have really enjoyed the world & story to this game & there are many opportunities for replay-ability due to the different paths you can take.
Yes - you can choose to be a nature-loving tree hugger Viking-type wielding an axe and magic to take down mechs. Or join another faction such as Outlaws or Clerics to use advanced technology. For TLDR, skip to last paragraph. Just to level-set, this was my first play through and I joined Berzerkers (the Viking guys) with focus on melee. Played on normal setting. Good game. Great world and story. The learning curve is really steep but once you master the mechanics the game gets really addictive. My experience on the first play through went something lie this: lvl 1-3 well this is pretty standard, pretty cool world though can't wait to go exploring. lvl 4-6 ok this is HARD. Why do I keep dying? lvl 6-8 this is stupid, I hate this game! Constantly running from trouble. lvl 9 -10 Oh so THATS how shields work... ok thats a little better. lvl 11-12 have a companion now, lived through 3 fights in a row taking no damage. this game is so cool! still running from trouble sometimes but not always. lvl 13 -15 really exploring the world now. I.LOVE. THIS. GAME! lvl 18 lets go find some trouble and kick its ass! lvl 35 ok lets finish the game. lvl 42 game done can't wait to restart and try a different faction :) I bought the game on sale and have about 200 hours played now. More than worth it. In retrospect part of me wishes I hadn't waited 6 months for it to go on sale. Looking forward to ELEX 2.
