DISTRAINT is a 2D psychological horror adventure game for PC. You step into the shoes of an ambitious young man named Price. In order to secure a partnership in a famous company, Price seizes the property of an elderly woman. In that very moment, he finds out the price of his humanity. It is dark and grim but also has its share of dark humor. The story progresses quickly which allows for several settings and scenarios. Your journey will last around two hours! The gameplay is simple but effective: You move left and right and solve puzzles to progress through the atmospheric story. Side scrolling 2D with unique, hand drawn graphics . Atmospheric music and sound design . Minimalist interface so your focus never wavers from the experience . Delve into a unique story full of intriguing twists . Easy recommendation
Price's job, as a distrainor, is to seize people's property to make sure he can obtain payment of rent which has long been owed. He doesn't like his job regardless of how famous the company is he works for but this is something he needs to make do with. The game starts out by introducing Price's first distraint; property to be seized from an elderly woman. Price becomes tormented by this case and this gets progressively worse along the way following his subsequent clients. We can see his story through in a couple of hours and the store page provides an excellent summary when saying he'll "learn the price of his humanity". I read a couple of reviews for this game and decided this would be an instant purchase as I thought this would provide the same experience as another horror adventure had done before: "Home". Don't let the simplistic, pixelated 2D graphics deter you from playing this game: it has great atmosphere and an excellent moral at the end. It should also be noted that this was the produce of a single individual. If you like psychological horror adventures with twists and you don't mind that they can only satisfy your hunger for the terrifying for a couple of hours (due to their low-budget, indie nature) then do yourself a favour and give Distraint a chance.

Hard to put down
DISTRAINT is one of those games that proves you don't need great graphics, jumpscares or a huge world to make horror work. It's quiet, uncomfortable and surprisingly emotional. The story stuck with me long after I finished it. Really glad I played this one.
