Chrono Ark is a phenomenal game and deserves far more recognition. I got the game just a month ago, and was instantly hooked by the unique gameplay mechanics as a deckbuilder, the constantly evolving story – yes, an actual start-to-finish story – and the large cast of characters. Gameplay
I own over 50 deckbuilders, including all of the heavy hitters, and Chrono Ark is easily the best of them. The gameplay is on par with the elites like Monster Train, StS, etc., but what separates Chrono Ark is the extra mile the developers went to excel in every other aspect. With this caliber of game, it is a given that the cards, build variety, items, bosses, and balance will all be on-point. What you usually don't get is any kind of story, which is understandable given the format of the genre. This is where Chrono Ark largely stands alone, by weaving a creative story that unfolds over multiple playthroughs and that could stand on its own as a visual novel. This culminates in several epic boss fights that put everything else in the genre to shame. In fact, they entirely transcend the genre by being as exciting as final bosses from the better JRPGs, and without spoiling too much, I don't think I've ever seen static 2D images used to such dramatic cinematic effect. Pair that with easily the best soundtrack in deckbuilders, and Chrono Ark sets a standard that everyone else is very far from meeting.
Got to the end first try. Some bird donny appeared, told me; "♥♥♥♥ you, your not supposed to do that, nor be here already." Then deleted my party from existence and reset me from the start. Based interaction 10/10
