In Blue Prince, you embark on a genre-defying experience, filled with a unique mix of mystery, strategy, and puzzles that weave together to create an unpredictable journey. Will your explorative steps lead you to the rumored Room 46? Upon reaching a closed door in Mt. Holly, you decide what room appears behind it and each decision shapes your path as you navigate through the manor. Every door can reveal new and exciting chambers that contain their own unique challenges and secrets. But be careful how you draft, for each day the manor’s floor plan resets and the rooms you saw today may not be the same rooms you see tomorrow. Your progress each day is shaped by the rooms you select to draft and the tools you find within them. Items in the game can be used in a number of creative ways to fuel your exploration deeper into the house, allowing you to adopt unique strategies to combat the challenges that each day brings. My wife & I played this game to 100% together, alternating runs/days but watching the other. We had a physical notebook we took notes in, literal hundreds (probably close to 1000) photos & videos on our phones, an excel spreadsheet, and shared phone note. This may be my favorite game of all time, and doing it all with a partner, my partner, has been a beautiful & wonderful experience. I feel like I know more about about fictional geography than I do actual geography! The world & care & cleverness that went into this is absolutely breathtaking, I am afraid I will never get to play another game like this ever again. 11/10 highly recommend, especially with a partner & TAKE NOTES!

One of the most deeply engaging puzzle games I have played in my entire life
One of the most deeply engaging puzzle games I have played in my entire life. The JOY of getting to sit with my insane amount of notes and theorise about every minute possibility of solutions is just, I kind of wish this game went on forever. Yet for my sanity, I'm glad it doesn't. I love this game <3

Exactly what I hoped for
Above this review, you will see something along the lines of "247.3 hours at time of review." But this does not come close to describing the degree to which Blue Prince has captured my attention and become my obsession. I have dozens of pages of handwritten notes for this game. I have created entire spreadsheets to keep track of patterns, clues, and hints. Even when the game isn't running, I can't help but ruminate over this game's many puzzles and mysteries, and I have a feeling that I will continue to do so for a long, long time. Solving Blue Prince's many puzzles has been a challenge, but more importantly, it has been rewarding every step of the way. Every thread can be pulled, every stone can be turned, and perhaps even every mystery can be solved. It is so rare to find a game that so thoroughly rewards curiosity the way Blue Prince does. This is without a doubt, my favorite game that I've ever played. If you love puzzles, if you love mysteries, if you love games that reward you for obsessively keeping notes on every seemingly meaningless detail you notice... get this game. You won't be disappointed.
